IMO, this is the place that started off the African BBQ Chicken craze in Ottawa (when they were Yre’s on Charlotte in Sandy Hill). We are **ABSOLUTELY** spoiled in this city to have such great places like this. Anyways, the Chicken, Plantain, Rice, and any of their Ginger/Bissap juices are spectacularly awesome. Ordering and pickup can be complete chaos but it’s all part of the process. It used to be far worse but they have a great system now that means you usually only have to wait 10-15 minutes max for your order. The staff are lovely too.

I just want to say this place is amazing!! The chicken is absolutely perfect! The side dishes are amazing. If you are look for some amazing BBQ Chicken this is your place! I had the half chicken with rice and plantain with the plan of sharing some with my boyfriend. I ate it all! :)
As soon as you walk in you can smell the charcoaled chicken in the air. Had the half chicken combo with rice and fried plantains. Delicious. Everything was well cooked and really tasty. Plantains we’re just excellent and a great addition to the rice. 5 stars for a take out chicken place for sure.
Hands down the best grilled chicken in Ottawa. You can really taste the South African spices and the wood charcoal cook. The prices are great. There is always a lineup; for good reason. Chicken is well worth the wait. Get the hottest spice level. Plantain & Mutton also recommended. Any local here in Ottawa should know this place is .
YKO is the BEST place to find African food in Ottawa hands down. The portion sizes are huge, the prices can’t be beat with a stick, and the chicken? Otherworldly! Everyone needs to check this place out if you’re looking for authentic delicious African food!
Ive been eating here forever... The food has been great almost every single time. The wait sucks but usually get through the lineup in a half hour. The atmosphere does suck, but who cares... you’re not dining in. Only once have I had to leave because the wait was too long... I think if you’re craving this chicken... you have to accept that it’s worth the wait and crap ambiance and it usually is. I would never get chicken anywhere else. May God give you patience and well seasoned chicken. Lol
